- In short
- 01The claim applies when you arrive at your final destination three hours or more after schedule.
- 02Compensation is €250, €400 or €600 per passenger, by flight distance – not the ticket price.
- 03Covers every flight departing the EU/EEA, and flights into the EU/EEA on an EU/EEA carrier. Norway is included.
- 04You can claim for flights up to three years back.
When does a delay qualify for compensation?
What matters is when you actually land, not when the flight was meant to leave. Arriving at your final destination three hours or more behind schedule generally triggers compensation under EU261.
That compensation comes on top of your right to be looked after while you wait. On longer delays the airline must cover food and drink, and accommodation if you have to wait until the next day.
Three hours on arrival
The delay is measured on arrival at your final destination, connections included. A short delay at departure that causes you to miss a connection can therefore still qualify.
Distance sets the amount
€250 for flights up to 1,500 km, €400 between 1,500 and 3,500 km, and €600 above 3,500 km. The amount is fixed and does not depend on the ticket price.
Extraordinary circumstances
The airline is excused where the cause was outside its control, such as severe weather or an airport strike. Technical faults on the aircraft normally do not count as extraordinary.
Others take up to half your compensation. We take 10 %.
Most claim services deduct 30 to 50 % of your compensation before it reaches you. We take 10 %, and only if we win. If we don't, you pay nothing.
of your compensation
- No cure, no pay
- Take up to half your compensation
- A fee on top if the case has to go to court
- The service keeps
- €180–300
- You keep
- €300–420
The standard fee is typically 30 %. If the claim has to be pursued in court, a legal action fee is added on top and the combined share approaches half the compensation.
of your compensation, only if we win
- No cure, no pay: if we don't win, you pay nothing
- A Norwegian lawyer runs your case
- On to the Conciliation Board if needed, still 10 %
- Done in two minutes
- The service keeps
- €60
- You keep
- €540
10 % however far the case has to go, including to the Conciliation Board. If we don't win, it costs you nothing.
How much can you claim?
Compensation under EU261 is fixed by the length of your flight, not the price of your ticket.
Applies to delays of 3 hours or more, cancellations, and denied boarding on flights departing the EU/EEA or arriving in the EU/EEA on an EU/EEA carrier.
